Western Michigan won a grant to research canes. I will be interested to hear the results. They are not only looking at the design and materials of canes but of the actual use of the cane. Two-point touch has been around for a long time. I have had student sore from the wrist movement but build up strength after time. The rollerball marshmallow tip was a favorite of many of my students. I had a few students who loved the lightweight and long NFB cane. I hope Western Michigan reaches out to the professionals working with children and not just adults with vision loss!
