Throw Back Thursday and a little history.
With the change to UEB, it is good to reflect back on the braille use in the late 1800 and early 1900s. Many people do not even realize that the code as we know it, is less than 100 years old. There were four different coding systems when Helen Keller was reading braille – and that was only in 1909, a little over 100 years ago. The decision on one braille code for North America wasn’t decided until 1932! Check these three websites to brush up on your history. Don’t forget to share with your students.
