The Florida Instructional Materials Center for the Visually Impaired is gearing up for a great year of trainings. There is a fabulous UEB training next week with Dr. Frances Mary D’Andrea and Dr. Cay Holbrook. How lucky are we to have two experts; one day will be about us learning UEB and the second will be about teaching UEB.
FIMC-VI also has great webinar series’ planned. Topics include: general education teachers training for when they have a student with visual impairments in their classroom, all the new assessments in Florida and their accommodations, writing quality functional vision evaluations and learning media assessments (not just meeting legal requirements), and determining time, type, and intensity of services on IEPs for students with visual impairments. Webinars are recorded so even if you missed it live, you can still benefit!

I just love the fact teachers of the visually impaired in Florida have so many opportunities (year around) to continue their professional development with quality, useful workshops! These workshops are also open to parents, braille transcribers, persons working in the Division of Blind Services, and paraprofessionals.
